The Activator Concept
The foundation of the TE Activator is the intent to work together to bring about electrification of the transportation sector for the benefit of all Arizonans. No organization can accomplish this outcome alone. Our coalition of key regional stakeholders includes municipalities, utility providers, corporations, NGOs, and academia collaborating to get things done better, faster, and with transformative results. The Activator model is centered on action plan transparency, member accountability via setting public goals and progress reporting, and the principle of results orientation with a focus on near-term outcomes.

A Shared Vision For Arizona’s Transportation Future
We define “Transportation Electrification” (TE) as the societal shift from fossil fuel-dependent personal, public, and commercial motor vehicles to electric transit powered by energy grids with responsible energy portfolios. Our vision for this mobility transformation is one that optimizes community benefits and maximizes investment efficiency to accelerate results. To that end, our collaborative action focuses on four strategic priorities, which serve as our blueprint:
- Empower all citizens to take part in the TE transformation.
- Prioritize high-use vehicles.
- Deploy critical charging infrastructure in anticipation of the transformation of mobility.
- Ensure the benefits of TE are equitably shared by all Arizonans.
This blueprint was informed by WEF’s Electric Vehicles for Smarter Cities report and adapted for the Phoenix Metropolitan Region.
